Ritual Reset
We’re in the new moon energy this week. New moons are for setting intentions and goals. Over the years the Mindful Mavens’ rituals consisted of cosmic gatherings, mindful meet ups if you will, with other spiritually connected mavens in group ceremony. Holding group rituals is having a sense of community, to bond, to inspire, to raise the vibration of our intentions collectively.
We’d theme visionboards, and host visionboard gatherings. We’d set intentions by a lake, go on hikes and end with sound baths. We’d gather in a circle on the beach and give offerings to deities. But then life got complicated for some of us, or busy, or hectic, and these seasonal meet ups ceased.
So what do you do when you no longer have a community to continue your ritual practice? You create a space for yourself…and that’s what I had to do in order to continue my mindfullness/spiritual journey practices.
I used to think a ritual was all the pomp and circumstance. I had to be outside. I had to be by a body of water. I had to have the sage, the candles; all the elements included. I had to theme it according to the cosmic event, the moon in it’s astrological phases, and so on. I learned however, a ritual is as simple as sitting on my balcony saying an intentional prayer. A ritual is what I do every morning enjoying a cup of coffee sitting in silence, savoring every sip or listening to music while I sipped.
I changed up how I performed a ritual. Sometimes I wrote an intention out, put it in one of our signature blend intention setting jars and tossed it in the lake nearby my house. Sometimes, I sat at my altar, pulled an Oracle card and wrote down the meaning in my journal. Sometimes I want on a hike. Other times I attended a sound bath or performed my own. Writing in my gratitude journal became a ritual. Ten minutes of meditation was a ritual. Maybe for you it’s soaking in a milk bath with flowers and herbs and meditative music playing in the background or if you’re an artist, perhaps painting or creating something can be a ritual.
It’s nice to have a community to engage in our spiritual practices, but even without a tribe, you can create space to perform your own ritual, in your own way. Don’t let the lack of a community stop you from your practice. If you seek a tribe, make it an intention, write it out, create a visionboard. When you do this, you’re putting yourself on that frequency.
A ritual is just “a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order.” It’s anything done with intention, and although being a group heightens the vibration, it shouldn’t stop you from creating your own magic on your own accord.
